We have had some wonderful comments regarding 'Bubble' and are pleased to share some here:
"Brilliant. As someone who lives with depression myself, I understand the struggle well. It's never easy to come to terms with it, especially alone, and to come to terms with it is the beginning of healing. People who unrelentingly support and love us make all the difference. Thank you for doing this, @katie_writes_and_sews @andreas_munoz @raghadx It was a precious eight minutes of heart." "Well done on the amazing film! [...] Proudly supported by vInspired." (vInspired, Bubble's funders) "Simple, insightful, beautiful angle on a complex topic, producing an impact beyond its duration." "It is amazing! I teared up at the end!" "I think it really shows that depression isn't just feeling low, it's being paralyzed and feeling nothing. Made me cry. I didn't blow bubbles, I did jigsaws for three months." "Great short film! So much heart and meaning into it!" "Beautiful and important little short." "It's just real and relatable. Sometimes there are no words for depression." "This is a touching, beautiful, insightful short film. It is one example of living with/around depression; naturally a complex and huge subject, but one which this addresses with care and compassion. I know I am not an art critic, but for me, it is a wonderfully paced combination of great writing, acting, lovely camera work, and sound. I think the writer/director/producer, one Ms Katie Hogben, should be very proud of this - and I recommend anyone to find a way to get to watch it. 8 minutes 38 seconds of my life I was very happy to spend that way. (Actually 17 minutes and 16 seconds because I watched it twice already). Congratulations Katie!" "Your film is beautiful." "I found Bubble to be dynamic and moving. I thought the relationship between the two characters was gorgeous. Just beautiful." "I need to watch it again! There’s so much in that short film - it’s extraordinary." "I really liked how dynamic the blocking was; such as when she is shouting into the glass. Not to mention the symbolism of the bubbles and the striking ending!" "I thought this was a very good look at some aspects of depression and living with someone with depression. It is poignant, tender, and still hits you with a velvet wrapped brick." "What a beautiful wee film." "Very sensitive and thought provoking." "An excellent piece of scripting which held my interest from beginning to end. A great deal of content for a short film, delivering the intended message." "This has got to be one of the most moving videos I have watched about mental health and was near tears watching it." "A touching little film with great intention." "I was really impressed by the script, directing and producing. It was thought provoking, gripping and very professional." "Great short film! So much heart and meaning into it!" "Very impressed. Very intense." "Excellent and thought provoking." "Such a powerful film." "What a clever little film, dealing with a very difficult problem." " 'Bubble' is a powerful and passionate portrayal of a young couple desperately sharing the issues around depression. The writer demonstrates an intelligent and compassionate understanding of, and insight into, the daily life struggles of a depressive and those trying to venture closer and cross the invisible barriers, involuntarily created. The photography and filming, leave the viewer with a sense of anticipation as to where we will next be taken. The bubbles introduce a calmness and sense of normality and cleverly help to neutralize the emotional trauma embedded in the film. Both actors show a sensitive and very real awareness of behaviours, body language and demeanours of a couple who are both seeking to comprehend each other’s situation. A poignant, beautiful and thought provoking film." "Very sensitive and thought provoking." "An excellent piece of scripting which held my interest from beginning to end. A great deal of content for a short film, delivering the intended message." "I was really impressed by the script, directing and producing. It was thought provoking, gripping and very professional." "Am hugely impressed by the honesty of the script, the poignancy of the situation, the strong, truthful portrayal of the two characters and the incredible smoothness of direction, pacing and conclusion. To fit SO much emotion into just 9 mins is such an achievement!" |
